Why is finding true love so difficult?

Who says it's difficult to find? I don't think it is. The hard part is recognizing it; it ain't that easy to know when you've stumbled up on it. Aside from that, there's a tendency by many to do just what's being done here: think of love as being of more than one sort. There are no phases of love. To refer to love as "true love" is to slyly suggest that there's 'plain ole ordinary love,' and there's another chapter of love called 'true love.' That's a misreckoning. There's 'plain ole ordinary love,' and then there are the counterfeits. Here are a few: 

Lust! (the #1 phony); then there's 'intense emotional appetite for attention and recognition;' and then there's 'passionate enthusiasm created by physical attraction.' All these are love pretenders; imitators. They simulate love, but they fall way short of love's endurance; they go to bed early! Love stays up all night, every night! You have to be really sure you want to take love on before you ask it to dance. Because once the music starts, it never stops; the song goes on and on. 

Love is patient and kind; love doesn't envy or boast; it's never arrogant or rude; doesn't insist on its own way; it isn't irritable or resentful; it doesn't rejoice in doing wrong, it rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. The greatest of the three, between faith hope and love, is love (read 1 Corinthians 13:4-13).

Now, tell me whether you agree when I say that love ain't that easy to recognize! Who have you ever met that filled that prescription? Were you looking for what was described there, or were you searching for something different?Something different, I suspect. 1 John 4:8 tells us "God is love." Paul wrote, that Jesus "is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation" (Colossians 1:15). (stay with me) Jesus told His disciples He was getting ready to return to His Father and get things ready for them to come to where He was going. He said, 'I go to prepare a place for you, and 'I'll come back to take you with me.' Phillip asked Him to 'show them the Father and it would help them to believe that He came from the Father and was returning to Him.'

Jesus ~ Have I been with you for as long as I have and you still don't know me, Phillip? When you've seen Me, you've seen the Father. (All in John 14) 

Love ain't easily recognized when you don't know what it looks like; that's because more often than not, love ain't really what we're searching for. And if it is, often when we find it we get tired of doing the same dance to the same music. \[';']/
