Should a Christian own a liquor store or sell liquor?

Can a Christian still keep his business of selling beer, as he use to do before he was born again?

That is such an incredibly difficult question. I believe an honest reading of Scripture lends itself to the position that it's not wrong to drink alcohol. Becoming drunk is a sin, alcoholism is a sin, but consuming alcohol in moderation is not wrong.

Everything can be abused. I know people that I think are addicted to video games. I think we can all agree that there are a lot of inappropriate movies out there. Does that mean that it's wrong for a Christian to work at Blockbuster?

I personally think that at the end of the day it's going to come down to the individual, and what they feel the Holy Spirit is guiding them to do. I think they need to spend a lot of time seeking God, a lot of time in prayer, and they need to truly believe and have confidence that they are working exactly where God wants them to work.

Liquor stores provide access to those who abuse alcohol. So, that needs to be considered! The scripture states, "Be not drunk with wine(alcohol) were in is excess, but be filled with the Holy Spirit". That speaks to moderation.

But my favorite scripture of all is Titus 2:11-13. "For the grace of God that bring;s salvation has appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live 'soberly', righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"

If thats what God wants of us, a sober life, then whats up with providing the agent of non-sobriety?

Yes. A Christian can own a liquor store and sell liquor.

Is liquor a sin? No.
Is owning a liquor store a sin? No.
Is selling liquor a sin? No.
Is drinking in moderation a sin? No.
Is social drinking a sin? No.

However, drunkenness, or the addiction and/or abuse of liquor, is a sin. it is contrary to the gift of the Holy Spirit called "self-control". When one becomes attached to the pleasure that comes with drinking, it becomes bondage. Only until he recognizes that he is a prisoner of the pleasure, can he cry out to Jesus, "Lord, set me free."
