We try because that is what God wants us to do. The opposite of not seeking to attain world peace is to either a) act indifferently or b) aid the world to self-destruct. So let's consider these options. a) act indifferently Should we therefor turn a blind eye to evil and suffering? b) aid the world to self-destruct Should we therefor aid God to moving the world closer to judgement day? or should we seek to achieve our original mandate from God? Genesis 1:28 And God blessed [Adam and Eve]. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." God wants us to be fruitful (productive), fill the earth (reach out in our influence), subdue it (take control and manage it) and have dominion (be caretakers) over all living creatures on earth. We have a mandate to be responsible on everything that happens on earth. Just because we were kicked out of Eden does not mean we are relegated from our mandate. Even if that were not so, Jesus instructs us with his commands: Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. We love our neighbors (all 7 billion of us today) by seeking to attain world peace and standing up to evil and suffering. We are to be the salt of the earth, and light to the world (Matthew 5:13-16). As salt, we make a difference. As light, we lead the way from darkness and despair. Christians make a difference.
There is no place in scripture that says we are to involve ourselves in the politics of this world, which after the crucifiction of Jesus is a condemned place. If we follow our lord and savior as he said we should and scripture throughout the NT says we should, then we would not involve ourselves in the politics of this world, including doing anything to try to bring about world peace. Our job, our only duty is to preach about the soon coming Kingdom of God and the things about the lord Jesus. As believers we are to love God with all out being and love our neighbors as ourselves and if we love them we will be telling them the message Jesus preached - about the coming Kingdom of God. To involve oneself in this world's politics is to be about an act of futility. We already know the end result and living in the last days that God's purpose and plan is being worked out here below exactly as He prophesied it would. The only one who will bring to this world peace is our lord and savior Jesus when he comes with power to defeat the world's armies in the valley of Meggido and take over rule of this world and King of kings and Lord of lords! May that day soon come. In the meantime we need to be about doing what Jesus commands us to do, preach the Kingdom.
My humble opinion is that we as Christian warriors have a duty to stand and proclaim the liberties paid for by our Lord. To live in peace with all when possible and promote peace always as His ambassadors to this darkening world. Much like the prophets that came before us, we are to work for Him who sent us as a testimony in all things, until the end of our shift. Today some believe and say that we as Christians somehow lose the right and thus must either be silent or that we are to withdraw from the public square. The Lord commands us not to hide our light, but to let it shine and where better than in the market place of ideas in the public square? To engage the bizarre crackpot deceptions that are proclaimed there as truth, with the truth and fire of God to set the captives free and bring a peace beyond understanding. Ezekiel 33:1-9 In the Lord's freedom and peace...........warrior on
