Hang out with Jesus. That's the short answer. It's in II Corinthians 3:18: "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being changed into His likeness from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord Who is the Spirit. You become like those who you hang out with. Spend five minutes in the room of any teenager, check whose music he is listening to, who he texts, what movies and DVDs he is watching, who are his heroes and friends, and you will know who is discipling him... and you can bet your boots that he is becoming more and more like who he loves to hang out with. Is it Jesus? The best place this side of Heaven to hang out with Him is in His Word, because He permeates every page, every verse. The Lord calls this hanging out with him many things. For instance, in Romans 8:1-11 He calls it walking in the Spirit. That passage is pretty radical stuff. For instance, in verses 2 and 11 He's telling us that the same resurrection power He used to raise Jesus from the dead is now working in your mortal body (not resurrection body)...... with the same results! What might happen if you start doing that, bluetoothing His Word into you as you drive, jog, bicycle, whatever, even falling asleep and waking up in His Word? You might not understand how He is changing you...... but other people sure will!
