Kissing while dating CAN be a dangerous thing. The Christian goal is to be chaste. The dangers of kissing while dating is summed up quite well in a popular song by Jimmie Rodgers in 1958 (not to be confused with a country singer by the same name a generation earlier). The song, "Kisses Sweeter than Wine," may well have sparked a lot of talk in popular culture in the late 50's about the ratcheting up from a chaste kiss, and then "necking," and finally up to "heavy petting." Even to the abandonment of "playing the field," which led to "going steady," which made a lot of parents uneasy--and rightfully so. Sexual immorality is a slippery slope, any way you cut the cake. It often starts with something that the world thinks is a harmless thing; making out. The end result, when one or both parties cannot hold themselves back so frequently is unwed pregnancy. Such a thing totally changes lives. And certainly not for the better. Yes, when mistakes are made, one can take responsibility for their actions; become humbled at the cross. But successful Christian living for youth starts with careful abstinence. Somewhere, the Lord has a mate for you. That is when we can rejoice in physical love. "May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth." (Proverbs 5:18) NIV
