LAW VERSUS GRACE 

1. Under Law there was a dividing veil (Ex. 26.33) Grace brought a rent veil (Heb. 10:19) 

2. Law blots out the sinner (Ex. 32:33) Grace blots out the sinner’s sin (Col. 2:14) 

3. The Law curses the sinner (Gal. 3:10) Grace covers the sinner (Rom. 4:7) 

4. The Law cries out, “Do and live!” (Deut. 8:1) Grace cries out, “It is done! It is finished!” (John 19:30; John 1:12) 

5. The Law cries out, “Every mouth stopped” (Rom 3:19) Grace invites, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (Rom. 10:9)

Your question, What is the difference between the law and grace?

What the law could not provide, the Grace of God does. 

The law by itself brought no one to the righteousness of God. But God’s Grace does.

Galatians 3:21 “Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.”

Some teach that once a person is saved, the law must be followed. This is true. But how is this made possible that we are able to keep the law?

It is written. 
Ezekiel 11:19 “And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

Jeremiah 31:33 “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, saith the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

These scriptures are talking about how that God will put his spirit within us, which enables us to walk in his statutes and ordinances. 

The Apostle shows us what happens to a person who receives the Holy Spirit within the heart. He states Love is what enables us to keep the law. 

Galatians 5:14 “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
In Verse 16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Now, let’s delve into how we, in Christ, can fulfill the law through love. 

To do so, we must first come to know the fruits that the Holy Spirit puts within us. Among these, I want to highlight the one word the Apostle said that would fulfill the law. It is the word Love. The love that we receive from God through his Holy Spirit. 

Once God’s love resides within us, it becomes the sole means by which we able to fulfill the law.

Galatians 5:22 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Those who possess the love of God in their heart will no longer walk in the flesh but walk in the Love of God given to them from the spirit. 

Romans 8:9 “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.”

The law say “thou shall not commit murder. The love of God in you fulfills this law. 

The law say “thou shall not covet. The love of God in you fulfills this law.

The law says thou shall not commit adultery. The love of God in you fulfills this law.

If there be any other law given, they are fulfilled by the love of God that resides in you. 

It is God’s love within us that we fulfills the law. Examine yourself and see if you walk after the flesh or do you walk in the Spirit God has given you.
