The concept of entering into God's rest comes from Hebrews 3-4. What is this "rest" the Hebrew writer is talking about? How do we enter it? And how do we fail to enter it? The writer to the Hebrews...

The question is: How does one enter into God's rest?

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

If we come to the lord Jesus and by that coming accept the revelation that he had received from his God and Father to give to us and repent and are baptised; then we will be of those who are in God's anointed one. As such, we will co-inherit all he inherits when he takes his place on the throne of David in Jerusalem. We will be among those who co-rule with him in the coming Kingdom of God, in the coming new age. When that happens we will have entered into the rest that Jesus will be a part of at that time.

For now we as followers of the lord Jesus are walking on the narrow path that leads to life in the new age that is coming in which we will be glorified immortal beings, having a part in the Theocratic Government of God that Jesus will be the head of as King of kings and Lord of lords seated on the throne of David during his 1,000 rule.

May that day soon come when we can realize the true rest that Jesus has promised we will have a part of as a result of coming to him!

The word sabbath mean cease from labour. When God created all things in 6 days He then ceased from labour. He did not get tired and have to take a nap. So God from the beginning provided an eternal day of sabbath and no more work shall be done. That also means that no work has to be done to enter that day. Eph 2:8-9 says we are not saved by works, it's by grace through.

Faith (http://ebible.com/nkjv/Ephesians/2/8/-/2/9?ori=405848). Paul said "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"

To receive eternal life we must cease from our labour, we can not be saved by our work, we have to trust the one who worked for us, in fact the one who died for us, and said "it is finished". Then we enter that eternal day of rest.

When believers enter that day they are under new management, they are not bound by man's laws or the Laws of Moses, but live under the headship of Christ, as Lord, and so we read "Jesus is Lord of the sabbath"

The rest means eternal rest with God. God wants every one of us to be with Him. God wants us to have the eternal relationship or eternal rest which was restored from the Adamic sin by shedding the blood of Jesus in the Calvary.

In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says: “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

He is inviting us to come. We are allowed to come to Him. God wants you, in fact, He wants you so much that Jesus died on the Cross just to prove it. Jesus didn’t have to come to this earth and die, but God’s love is so great, and He wanted us so much that He chose to come.

So what does God say when we are weary? He will give us rest, and the best thing is He even tells us how and that is by taking His yoke upon us and learning from Him. What is this yoke? It means give rest to your soul, your mind, your will and your emotions.

Hebrews 4:9 tells us that, ‘There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God’. It is only those who truly have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior that are promised an eternal rest. Just as unbelief prevented those Israelites from entering into God’s rest; unbelief will also prevent you from entering into Heaven, the place of God’s rest.

How to find God’s rest? When we become Christ like through the Holy Spirit.
