"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10.10 My question is this: Why would you not want to? If you have been convicted through the Law (the Ten Commandments), and through the Holy Spirit brought unto salvation, the one thing you cannot help BUT DO is confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over everything! Confessing Christ as Lord is like breathing...you really can't help but do it.

Absolutely! Our confession of Christ with our mouths, is in complete harmony with the bible. Romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10 says: " If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his mouth and so is saved. This helps us to appreciate the fact that confession with the mouth is a prerequisite for Salvation. Jesus himself said at Matthew chapter 10 verses 32 and 33 : "So everyone who acknowledges (confesses) me before men, I also will acknowledge (confess) before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven" It is imperative that confession of the Lord Jesus Christ is made with our mouths for anyone to be saved!

Do we have to confess with our mouth that we believe in Christ? According to Romans 10:9-10, yes, confessing with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead are key, linked elements of salvation. While belief is foundational, vocal confession serves as a public declaration of faith, confirming the inner transformation. Details regarding this confession: Significance: It is described as a necessary, active affirmation of faith rather than just a passive belief. Meaning: It signifies acknowledging Jesus as Lord of your life. In the early church, this often meant risking persecution to declare allegiance to Jesus rather than to Caesar. Action: It is an outward expression of an inward reality. Evidence of Inward Faith The Root and the Fruit: Belief in the heart is seen as the "root" (justification), while confession is the "fruit" (outward evidence). Summary of Viewpoints Mandatory Requirement: A necessary condition for a person to be scripturally "saved". Inevitable Evidence: A natural and certain outward sign that inward salvation has already occurred. Conditional Sufficiency: A sufficient but not strictly exclusive way to demonstrate faith (e.g., deathbed conversions or physical inability to speak). Romans 10: 8-9 ESV "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach: 9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: 10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." In one instance, God caused even a dumb animal, an ass, to speak. (Nu 22:28, 30. 2Pe 2:16 ESV. "16but he was rebuked for his own transgression: a dumb ass spake with man’s voice and stayed the madness of the prophet." Today God’s servants can have his words in their mouths, not by inspiration, but from his inspired written Word, which equips them completely for every good work. (2Ti 3:16, 17) They no longer have to wait for Christ to come to bring the good news, nor do they need to go to another source for what they preach. They have it right before them, ready for them to speak, as they are told: “The word is near you, in your own mouth and in your own heart.”—Ro 10:6-9; De 30:11-14. Not only is this confession made before others at the time of baptism but it must be a continuing confession, a zealous public testimony about all the grand facets of the truth. Such truth focuses on the precious name of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah; on our Messianic King and Ransomer, the Lord Jesus Christ; and on the magnificent Kingdom promises. A person who does not have heartfelt gratitude for the truth may reject even convincing evidence if he stubbornly holds to preconceived ideas or seeks to excuse his fleshly desires. 2 Pet. 3:3, 4; Jude 18. This is why in Bible times, not all who witnessed miracles developed faith. Num. 14:11; John 12:37 God’s holy spirit produces faith only in people whose heart favors the truth over lies.—Gal. 5:22; 2 Thess. 2:10, 11. We must gain accurate knowledge of this “‘word’ of faith” and continue to nurture it in our hearts so that we are motivated to tell it out to others. Jesus himself reminds us: “Whoever becomes ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man will also be ashamed of him when he arrives in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”—Mark 8:38.

Yes of course. Jesus said, "whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven." Saying we believe in Jesus is not only done with our speech, it can also be done with our actions and our clothing. Should we feel embarrassed to make the sign of the cross before eating our meals in a public cafeteria? How about wearing a crucifix around our necks? How about not setting any appointments on Sunday so we can attend mass? How about speaking out against contraception, abortion, divorce, gay marriage and euthanasia? If we are embarrassed to confess we believe in Jesus, God have mercy on our souls.
