We all know that homosexuality is a sin, but so is anything done in excess, (eating, drinking), or idolizing false gods, (Hollywood celebrities). You get the point that I'm trying to make. I don't hate gay people by any means, I've had friends that were gay. But, how as a christian, are we to approach the subject. I know that it is a sin, and we are to hate the sin, but not the sinner. The problem that I run into, is that there are groups that support homosexuality and are painting christians as hate mongers. If we love the person but hate the sin, how do we support people that perhaps believe in God, but practice behavior that is against God's teachings. I would like to feel that christians are accepting of people, including the flaws, which we all have. We as christians can't promote homosexuality, but at the same time don't want to exercise the "holier than thou" attitude, that we are often portrayed for. We should strive to bring people to christ, but how do we do that, without pushing away individuals that may be gay, and at the same time, not alienating those who are steadfast in their beliefs that homosexuality is wrong. This is a topic that I often wondered about. I know people that are gay and are christians, but once they have "outed themselves", feel that the church is unaccepting of them because of their sexual preference. I don't believe that God created people at birth as gay, is it just a choice that they make, a hormonal imbalance, the media that promotes it, or cause and effect of your surroundings? Any light that can be shed on the subject would be greatly appreciated.......thanks!
