When I was saved I knew there was a heaven and a hell and I could do nothing to save myself. Only my trust in Jesus could save me. He then sent the Holy Spirit to live in me to change me into what He wanted me to be.

The great problem we come to after salvation is that of trying to help God to save us. We just keep falling into sin and cannot help our selves still. Finally we give up our life and give Him complete control to work out our salvation instead of trying to live up to His standards.

It is the only way. A leapard cannot change his spots and we cannot use the flesh to change the flesh. Paul said that when he was weak in himself he was strong in the Lord. The harder we try in our own strength the more we will fail. We just have to give up and let the author and finisher of our faith do the work.

Jesus did not come to make us look more like Him. He came so we could die so He can live. We need to die to anything about ourselves to save our selves but the cross. Us is always the problem. When we stop trying He can start working. For me to die and Christ to live is gain. We must decrease so that He can increase.

Conversion is when we place our trust in Jesus to save us and quit trusting in our selves to do anything. It does destroy our pride. We want to live by rules and regulations to make our selves righteous. That gives us pride in saving our selves. Jesus said, " by works of the law shall no flesh be justified." Faith in Chist alone is the only way.

Jesus said trust in Him with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. His ways are not our ways and our ways are not His ways. True conversion is when we realize we have nothing to offer Him and He has everything to offer us.

We repent of our righteousness and He gives us His. Pride, selfrighteousness, and unbelief keep us from God. We are just not sure that what He said is true. When we quit trusting in ourselves we will get new life in Christ. It will be His work and not ours. It took me years to learn this. I am still learning to trust in Him alone by faith no matter what.
