A scarlet/purple robe meant royalty and honor (it was their military uniform)... it was used to mock god because he told them the truth that he was one!

It happens so many times, that we are mocked at for telling the truth! Jesus has been in those shoes and he understands all our anger. We have to imitate Jesus and be patient.

The first time i read it (when i was much younger), the Holy Spirit made me interpret it this way,

"I had to be your superhero and I wanted to show my love for you child..
I was excited to have given a chance to prove my love, so I let myself be clothed in a scarlet (fastened at the neck, as i imagined) to look like one!"
(the fictional superheroes always fly around with such scarlet extensions to their costumes!)

God is our father! He wouldn't tell stories i cant connect with! He knew as a child i would not have understood his humility in being mocked by one of His own creations.

I think he knows all our questions and answers them through bible, to read it the way he wants us to read comes from praying for the spirit.
