I use this version when I want to look up a particular verse in the Bible.

The International Standard Version, or ISV, is a modern English translation of the Bible that I find especially useful for worship, teaching, personal devotion, and reading at home. It is unique because it is the first modern translation to include a textual comparison of the famous Dead Sea Scrolls with the traditional Masoretic text of the Hebrew Bible, giving me and other readers insight into the earliest available manuscripts. The translation seeks to strike a balance between staying close to the original wording, formal equivalence, and making the text clear and understandable in English, functional equivalence, while avoiding the freer paraphrasing common in some modern versions. It is written at a level accessible to readers around 7th to 8th grade, making it approachable for study or daily reading. More details are available at isv.org.
