1 Corinthians 8:5 says "...we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one." Our God is the only God. (Deuteronomy 4:35) (Deuteronomy 4:39) He is a living, breathing being. The idols and other gods that people worship are not alive. Isaiah 41:24 They are just statues or imaginary creatures. They cannot answer prayers or do anything. But our God is the true God, and He can do all things. Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Psalm 86:10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
This is going to be a really rudimentary and personal understanding answer! Jesus was God's word brought to life for us to see for no one had ever seen God He is too awesome for us to ever look upon, and I believe that remains the same today. I believe God sent Jesus or God incarnate, so we could see Him, and have a relationship with Him, not only to have His word given to us clearly, explicitly, but most importantly, to be sacrificed for us because there was no other way to deal with sin since Adam, and God knew this. Although Jesus had always been in heaven with God, and the Holy Spirit had always walked with us, it is as if God cut off a piece of Himself for us because of His immense love for us, or so it feels to me. Firstly, Jesus rose from the dead ergo He LIVES and God is not dead! Mark 16:6: And he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 1 Corinthians 15:12: Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? Secondly, He said in teaching us while walking this earth: John 14:6: Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Also, there is the constant contrast between life and death being life in God/belief and death in satan/disbelief of Jesus as the Son of God. 1 Corinthians 15:22: For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. Luke 20:36: for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. John 11:25: Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 1 Corinthians 15:18: Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 1 Corinthians 15:20: But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. So in summation, Jesus rose from the dead and is alive/living in heaven with God until such time as He returns to set the world right once and for all as outlined in scripture. Those who believe in Him as their Lord and Saviour are saved and will have eternal life with Him, those who do not will die a thousand deaths in hell. Jesus is alive and the same today as yesterday and tomorrow! Halleluyah! Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Not only that but... once saved from our faith we are set free from this world of pain and angst and anger and fear and hate and jealousy and all the deathly/evil things of satan that separate us from Him, and instead they are replaced with, or we are actually given freedom and strength and courage and joy and endless hope and bountiful faith and love for ALL mankind and eternal life! John 4:10: Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." John 7:38: Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" And those who believe, they LIVE and are truly ALIVE! Those who live this physical life without Christ are already dead even before their bodies give out on them. Mark 8:36: For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 1 Corinthians 15:45: Thus it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. I can honestly say that being saved in January 2013, that these past 1.5 years I have felt more alive and fulfilled than at any other time in my life, and I had career success, independence, financial security, family, but having lost all of it, none of it gave me any lasting joy or peace or freedom when I had it. Only Jesus has. Praise the Lord! Blessings, in HIM, Lynn
