A critical spirit is not difficult to recognize. Its fruit is usually evident. Someone with a critical spirit is prone to complaining, seeing the glass as half-empty, ruing unmet expectations, sens...

This is what helped me; My mentor told me that we are all in a process, we are all in different stages in our life.

Then I found scriptures that said things like, whom am I to judge when I do the same things, I should judge no mans servant, I should judge no man since God is able to make him stand and stand he will.

Then God showed me Peter. He was a tough guy in the beginning, rough around the edges, he cut off a mans ear, said he would never deny Jesus but did three times, yelled at other disciples, got his butt chewed by Paul for teaching the gentiles to do things in the law that were for Jews, but he also started the first church, wrote a couple of books in the bible etc.

Peter was in a process, Paul was in a process and we are all in a process, so I let people be in their process and give voice where I have one and allow the grace of God to do what it does.

Ask God to change you from the inside out, and rebuke the Critical Spirit! 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells to break down strongholds that we need to renew our mind and cast down vain imaginations. Philippians 4:8 tells us to focus on what whatever is good.

What I do when I find that I have a stronghold that I need torn down is, I start out by thank God for showing that I have a stronghold that Is coming between us and that I surrender this area to him, and trust that he can tear it down. I rebuke the "critical spirit" and tell it that it has no hold on me-and I find scriptures that I can use to replace the critical thoughts with. Try to replace critical thoughts with thoughts of why you like this person, place, or thing.

This spiritual war fair!

A critical mind-set is the product of the sinful nature you were born with. You overcome that old sinful nature by yielding to the Holy Spirit within, activating.
your Spiritual Nature, if you are an authentic Christian. If you are not an authentic Christian, then you are rowing upstream without a paddle.

The way to overcome a critical spirit is to realize that we have been given power over all powers of darkness even over our will and emotion, after which you exercise your authority over this spirit in Jesus Name. Because having such a spirit deters ones' progress, you see others getting ahead while you look on.early detection helps prevent a lot of damage.

A critical spirit can be easily detected by others except the person that is spreading the disease of division and strife. Often we mimic what we hear instead of what is good and true. I have found that a critical spirit is a way of living in bondage. This parallel of living in a "slave mentality" leaves a person feeling that there is no way out of their situations that often are created out of anger or misunderstandings of what God has in store for our lives.

I pray that all of us regardless of color, creed, or religion can see that we are the beacons of light that pushes life to its fullest level of joy. With this capacity to experience joy and love, all beings must trust those that are true to inform them when a critical spirit has overtaken their lives. We cannot change what we do not acknowledge. Acknowledge who you are in Christ everyday.

How can I overcome having a critical spirit?

Overcoming a critical spirit requires gratefulness, a willingness to forgive, and an accurate understanding of God's grace.

Follow the following examples:

1: Confess and Repent. Pray to God about your problem.
2: Read the Bible daily to overcome a judgmental spirit and speak truth over yourself.
3: Choose Love Over Judgment. (1 Peter 4:8)
4: Practice Empathy and Humility. (Philippians 2:3)
5: Renew Your Mind by meditating on God's Word. (Romans 12:2)
6: When spoken with faith, it reshapes our thoughts, words, and actions. (Hebrews 4:12)

Always remember: change begins with surrender. God doesn't shame you. Instead, He shapes you. Also, a critical spirit doesn't define you. But, with God's help, you can conquer judgmental attitudes. We need to trade criticism for compassion and walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. 1st Peter 2:21 ESV Bible: “Because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps".”

Charles Spurgeon once said, "Think not of the faults of others but of your own; be quick to see the beam in your own eye."

Speak the truth. And watch your heart be transformed.

"Let all that ye do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14) ESV Bible

Jesus cautioned against this in the sermon on the mount recorded in Matthew 7:1-5, where he encouraged his listeners to examine themselves before judging others. Matt 7:1 ESV Bible: "Judge not, that ye be not judged."
