What was the necessity of Satan to come as a serpent to deceive Eve?

Genesis 3:1 - 7

ESV - 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'? 2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden.

It is my opinion that Satan was not the serpent but rather inhabited the serpent. He chose the serpent because it "was more subtle than any beast of the field..." (Genesis 3:1).

Satan is a spiritual being. Satan can disguise himself as we read in II Corinthians 11:12: "Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light..."
This is all more the reason that a child of God needs to equip themselves for battle by being steadfast in prayer and in the Word allowing the Holy Spirit to give you discernment and victory.
