Why is Jesus saying, "My yoke is easy, my burden is light," but also "Take up your cross daily and follow me"? Surely a cross is a very heavy yoke to bear.

Matthew 16:24 - 26

²⁴ Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. ²⁵ For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Where do we as Christians get the idea that we cannot serve God in our own strength, when coming to Christ is an admission of our weakness? Does not all our strength then come from God?
