Very good and timely question! I will list down some gay rights and what the Christian response aught to be. I am no expert on this, feel free to disagree with me. 1. The right to donate blood. A Christian should support this right, provided the blood will be tested for diseases, just like anyone else's. 2. The right to marriage. A Christian cannot support this for marriage is reserved for heterosexual couples only. 3. The right to adopt a child. No harm here, as long as the couple undergo the same procedure as any other couple. 4. Non-discrimination and anti-bullying legislation. Of couse! Gay or not, who wants to be bullied? 5. Immigration equality. 6. Protection from violence against gay people. 7. Equal age of consent laws. 8. The right to serve in the military. We can support this, as we want the same equality ourselves. 9. Anti-discrimination laws for employment and housing. Employment, yes. But for housing, it depends on the country. In Singapore, since the government is trying to boost production of babies, newly wed couples are given priority for housing. The reasons are practical, not theological. 10. Assisted reproductive technology. I'm still confused how they want to do this, since two men can not reproduce. 11. Sex reassignment surgery. 12. Legal recognition of reassigned gender. For further discussion, since we cannot stop them from undergoing the knife, and undergoing surgery to alter a part of one's body is not considered a sin, per se. I would like to hear other's opinion on this.
