There are christians who believe that they should honor the sabbath day according to the ten commandments. There are many sabbath day keepers who want even fellowship with other believers on Sunday because they feel it's wrong. If they do fellowship, the whole time they're thinking about how the person that worships on Sunday is in the wrong. They also believe that their salvation comes by keeping the ten commandments. We are saved by grace through faith and not of works. They will often refer to the first book of the apostle John when it talks about keeping his commandments but 1John 3:21-22 clearly state what those commandments are. 1Timothy also speaks of what the law is used for.
I John 3:22-23 NKJV
And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
I Timothy 1:9 NKJV
knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
Joseph, thank you for your wise words. Matthew 5:43 Jesus tells us to "Love thy neighbor". 5:44 Jesus tells us "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you". You say, "many Sabbath day keepers who wont even fellowship with other believers on Sunday because they feel it's wrong." Jesus tells us in Matthew 71 Judge not that you be not judged". Luke 6:37 Judge not condemn not, forgive. James 4:11 Speak no evil against one another. We are to do good to our brothers and sisters going to church on Sunday is doing good.
Keeping His Commandments. 1 John 3:21-22 "we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight." His commandments and what is pleasing in His sight is not defined.
Matthew 19:17-22 Jesus tells the young man which commandments to keep. Jesus mentioned commandments 5 through 10 leaving out the first 4 commandments dealing with pleasing God. Does this mean Jesus changed the law? No! We still Love God.
1 Timothy 1:9 "the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane:. One has to understand where Paul is coming from. Paul is the author of 1 Timothy 1:9. Paul was a Pharisees as was his father before converting to following Jesus. Pharisees were self-righteous rule followers engaging in conflicts between themselves and Jesus. Read 1 Timothy 1:1-12 to better understand 8 "But we know that the law is good, id a man use it lawfully".
God Bless
