No brother, you do not need to quit your job to go into ministry. Whether we work, or choose not to work,we are all called to be priest.1pet2:5. 2:9. We can effectively serve God and keep our jobs. Ministry is a lifestyle. We must reach out to the brethren, and the dying world at all times, and in all circumstances. Apostle Paul did not depend on anyone for sustenance, he was a tent maker. He fended for his needs, and if the brethren raised money for him it was all good, and if not,he worked to meet his needs. First, we must understand that the 5-fold ministry in Ephesians 4: 11 are ministering graces, they are not titles, that people go to Bible Schools to acquire. It is the Holy Spirit who endows us with these graces to build and edify his Church and every Christian has those graces,So that when we come together,he that has a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, can bless the church1 Cor 14: 26.These graces are not supposed to be paid titles. The Church world got it all wrong and that is why there are so many hirelings calling themselves pastors, yet enriching themselves, and doing everything to get people to bring offerings to the house of The Lord. As soon soon as we get born again, we are called into ministry. It is not a job for some specific persons. It is our responsibility to develop an intimate relationship with God and he will help us serve him as we ought to, without leaving our jobs. I hope I answered your question. If you need more clarification, I will be happy to provide. I am a teacher by profession, and and a minister as well in my local church. May The Lord help us and teach us to serve him as we ought to Amen.
No sure why you would even think that. If it were true there would be very few Christians in this world. Heck, 90% of us can't even bother to make it to Church, except maybe Christmas and Easter. God really don't demand much of anything from us. He does however recommend that we don't do a bunch of stuff. Going into the ministry is not one of them. God calls those he feels are right to shepered his flock. Now if you feel a calling, pray about it and God will guide and lead you. But wouldn't be rough if there were a Billion or more Preachers walking around on this planet?
