I too have two disabled kids I have raised alone pretty much, and they are now adults who still live with me. One wants to be in the army and it is his dream, and I know the 'real world' says it is not possible for him to do that; but God hadn't told me to give up on that dream for him, so I have done all that I can to make it happen for him. When it comes to my daughter, she has no such desires, but wants to be married and be a housewife and have a career in cooking and baking so we have had to improvise.

I have to say the worst part of being a single mom with two disabled kids has been the trauma of their going through a fire and losing everything they owned but the clothes on their backs. For three months we were homeless and living off the kindness of strangers, who turned out to be a blessing though they were not Christians. We were able to start over again and have since come a long way in recovering from that after five years of hard work, God's hands upon us, and His blessings.

The loss of other stable things in the kids lives, like losing loved ones who were there for them since their birth, I have no doubts in my mind at all that it was only through God's love and prayers and faith that has got us this far in life again. I have left it in God's control to see where their futures lie and how it is to be, and I am content to just be there for them, love them and help them with whatever God chooses to give me the tools to make it happen for them.

With the crumbling of our immediate family all around us by their non Christianity and parents aging with health issues we are still standing in our faith and hope in Christ and we know that we know that He is in control. Without faith in Him we would have never survived what we have so far.

We trust Him for everything and that is my best advice to people who need help. Prayer and speaking to God about your kids everyday is a good practice as in Him alone do the answers and help come from.
