Is it doctrinally sound?

Bullinger taught a form of hyper dispensationalism and soul death, as well as the fact that Jesus was crucified with 4 criminals, not two. I think it would be wise to steer clear of his teachings. I am not aware that it would be be beneficial.
I owned a Companion Bible for a number of years before I was saved, and now I am saddened at what I had read and learned as a result. As others have stated, Bullinger has a lot of messed up views. He taught himself Hebrew and proceeded to translate much of the Bible in his own way. He believes also that there were two events where God first created all of humanity, then after the eighth day, He created Adam and Eve. He also taught that there was sin before the fall in heaven, so we had to be born to find out who was going to be found loyal...kind of like a testing ground. Steer clear of him. He is very knowledgeable but his knowledge is corrupt.
Hello, I have a Companion Bible and it is The King James Version from the 1611 Bible. So it is Sound Doctrine!:) It's an awesome Study Bible, it has 198 Appendixes to further elaborate The Word Of God to give you a better understanding by the Scholar Bullinger. I highly recommend the Companion Bible. Jesus Christ says "Feed My Sheep." This Bible of The Word Of God does just that! Feeds Me with so much understanding and with clarity! It's Exceptional! I encourage you to Study With It & May Your Eyes Be Opened as Mine Are! Have a Very Blessed Day!
