The Laodicean church was a body of believers. The Bible does not refer to 'church' as a denomination, but as a body of believers in Christ. But the thing peculiar to this church was lukewarmness, as we find today in the church. Born again, yes; but 'taking it easy'. Even as it was the last church to be written to, it signifies the condition of the church in the last days. Neither hot nor cold...rich...increased with goods...have need of nothing. BUT, in God's eyes, we are wretched, and miserable, and poor (lacking in the true spiritual riches), and blind (spiritually so that things happen around us, and it is not revealed to the church as it used to be in the early church), and naked (not clothed with the garment of righteousness). We have to open the doors of those rooms in our hearts where we keep to ourselves and keep God out so that the Lord will come in and have fellowship with us. Yes, we need to return to that place of WALKING with the Lord, instead of trying to WORK for Him.
