According to Luke 14:12-14, does it mean that we should not expect any material reward from each other when we help others other than the rewards to be given in heaven?

Luke 14:12 - 14

ESV - 12 He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind.

The main point that Jesus is making in this passage is that your giving or helping should not be materially based. If our motivation for doing good is based on what we can get, then it is not the right motivation. If we help someone, and that person gives something back out of thankfulness, it is not a bad thing- Jesus says to accept what others give you because a worker is worth his wages (Luke 10:7)

But our hearts should be ready to help those who cannot help themselves or who need help, and our greatest reward is that of glorifying God who has given us the best help of all- salvation that we cannot achieve on our own. We show we are His children when we show love to others. (John 13:35)
