In Ezk 4:12, God originally told Ezekiel to use human waste for fuel to bake his bread. When Ezekiel protested that it would defile him to do that (much like Daniel would not eat the King's food), God graciously provided a different, acceptable fuel, which was cow dung. Chapter 4 is a prophecy of Jerusalem's fall to the Babylonians, so times were going to get tough for the Jews.
The Jews @ times cooked over a fire made from cows dung mixed with straw, which was not against Moses’ law. No priest, however, (and Ezekiel was a priest—Eze 1:3) would want to defile himself and his food by using human dung for cooking his food (Dt 14:3; 23:12-14), so the Lord let Ezekiel use cows dung. Does Ezekiel’s protest not remind you of Peter's protest in Acts 10:14?
