As always, S. Michael Houdmann has given an excellent, clear answer.

Malcolm Muggeridge was an Atheist for many years, but became convinced of the reality of God, and became a Christian. He Apparently did some filming in India but the light in the poor places he visited was so poor, no usable film was expected: He decided to press on - and when the tapes were brought back to Britain, the work of the saints he filmed could clearly be seen. He became convinced the "light of God" seen in old paintings of saints may have been the reason!
However, whilst there are many things in this world we cannot understand or explain the belief in "magic" forces is totally opposed to the work of God in our lives.
