How can the Anti-Christ be present both when the scripture was written and in the present? The scripture sounds like it's saying that the spirit of the anti Christ is 'in the world today', as in when the new testament scriptures were written. I'm having trouble comprehending that the Anti-Christ was in the world during scripture times, and yet we are still waiting for the Antichrist in our time. How can this be?
1 John 4:1 - 6
ESV - 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.

✿ Every spirit that's inspiring anyone to deny the incarnation, His passion, death, physical resurrection, and physical ascension to heaven is not of God, and is an antichrist (1Jn. 4:2-3, Jn. 21:14). ✿ Four false doctrines that is inspired by the spirit of an antichrist are: 1. That Jesus is not the Christ. 2. That God is not the Father of Jesus. 3. That Jesus is not the Son of God. 4. Those who deny death, physical resurrection, and physical ascension of Christ to heaven ✿ The Jews and the Gnostics in particular denied the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus Christ. They considered Him a common man, the son of Joseph and Mary (Mt. 13:55-57 Mk. 6:3).
I humbly submit for your consideration my opinion on this matter before us. Simply stated this spirit is the first born child of Lucifer's pride and it's name is rebellion. (Hosea 8:1) A rebellion that may be expressed in many devious ways through out the sands of time against the mathematically and perfectly balanced system created and put in place by God. (Genesis 4:7) The continuing corruption of God's system and finally the tower of babel in the plain of Shinar erected by king Nimrod (I will rebel) caused God to act (Genesis 11:6). Currently this spirit is expressed by the secular intelligentsia within government and academia and their atheist Trotskyite traveling companions as "we know best rubes" (Mark 10:42) It matters not to them whether their ideas run counter to common sense or Gods Word expressed as natural law for the secular inclined readers among us. (Zephaniah 3:1) Consider a male or female (with factory plumbing) must now be treated as the sex of whatever their choice today. And today laws are passed without consideration or even bothering to read what's in them, all that seems to matters is that it's from your team. (Hosea 5:4) This lawlessness and rebellion has spread now overtaking the world like a uncontrolled whirlwind, where the mantra is we must do something (no matter how foolish and short sighted) but believers know today is but a preview of things that must come to pass shortly. (Luke 10:21) Take heart and be of good courage, as we hold a promise from He who is more than able to keep it. (1 Corinthians 16:13; Galatians 3:29) In the Lord's freedom..................warrior on
I believe that the "Anti-Christ" referred to in the scriptures is referring to a spiritual condition that stands against the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. There is no neutral position in the spiritual world. You are either for Jesus (a true believer and follower) or against him (Anti-Christ and opposed to everything he stands for). The only unforgivable sin is denying that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and the only Savior of the world (ie Savior of all human beings who will ever live - on the condition they receive his salvation). In Matthew 12:30-31 Jesus said "Whoever is not with me is against me. Whoever does not gather with me, scatters. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven". In my view, This blasphemy is denying that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of the world. The enemy of our souls - Satan, is constantly raising up individuals and movements of people to oppose the person and teaching of Jesus. During the last days (end times) this activity will grow exponentially, culminating in the rise of a specific person (the Anti-Christ of Revelation) who will galvanize this movement into a worldwide force against the church of Jesus Christ. But Jesus said "Take heart, do not worry, I have overcome the world". According to the book of Revelation, the Anti-Christ is completely defeated by Jesus. Then Jesus reigns as king forever. And we get to reign with him. Yeah God!
