Will there be a great apostasy / falling away during the end times?

2 Thessalonians 2:3

ESV - 3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction.

The Bible does indeed foretale of a time of apostasy, calling it, "A strong delusion," in 2 Thess. 2.

Apostasy is the result when Bible truth is altered or denied. Rejecting biblical truth insures deception will follow. The biblical references of this reality are numerous.

It is also critical to our lives to understand how this apostasy will look and feel as we move along towards the "end of the age (of grace).

I use two examples to illustrate how apostasy looks and feels to those of us living right now:

1. It is like a road running in opposite directions.

On one side of the road, the traffic is intense, bumper-to-bumper, and moving at high speeds. These are people rapidly moving away from God by their own choice.

On the other side of the road, the traffic is minimal, sparce, and slow paced. These are people who are going in the opposite direction from the world system. Their choice is to get as close to God as possible.

Both movements are happening at once. Both have been foretold in the Bible. Both are signs of the end of the age.

2. Walking on a crowded sidewalk in New York City, moving against the flow of the crowd.

We all have experienced this whether in New York or not. Walking into the crowd, moving against the flowing direction is very challenging, fraught with impediments, and frustration.

Such is the reality of life for the fervent Christian.
