✿ Though we dont have the term "tarot" card reading in the Bible, it is well connected with demons, called familiar spirits as psychic and mediums to carry out the practises that are forbiddden in the Bible. ✿ Greek:pharmakeia (G5331), sorcery, practice of dealing with evil spirits; magical incantations and casting spells and charms upon one by means of drugs and potions of various kinds (Gal. 5:20; Rev. 9:21; 18:23; cp. Rev. 21:8; 22:15; Lk. 12:29). Enchantments were used to inflict evil, pains, hatred, sufferings, and death, or to bring good, health, love and other blessings. ✿ Twelve Forbidden Practices connected with Tarot (psychic and mediums): 1. Enchantments-- practice of magical arts (Ex. 7: 11, 22; 8: 7, 18; Lev. 19: 26; Dt. 18: 10; 2Chr. 33: 6; 2Ki. 17: 17; 21: 6; Isa. 47: 9, 12; Jer. 27: 9; Dan. 1: 20) 2. Paul writing to the Galatians made it clear as to how we need to walk in the Spirit... And in doing so you will not be drawn to getting involved in such sinful behavior. Tarot cards are used in occult practices. Thus a form of sorcery. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” ~~ Galatians 5:16-21 ESV ~~
In most cases I believe it falls into the category of Divination. I'll try to explain. Think of flipping playing cards randomly with no thought, just for fun... in this there "may be" no real sin.. On the other hand tarot readers/cards want to tell you your future/fortune/etc. That's the "intention", and in order to give accurate predictions so to speak, the "tarot reader" seeks deeper intimacy and connection, guidance if you will from mysterious sources, channeling spirits/energy, etc.... in order to provide what is believed to be the most accurate reading possible for the "customer". The question then becomes, "who or what" is providing this "inspiration" or "information"; what is the "source" that would otherwise make this a random flipping of the cards? It likely isn't the HOLY SPIRIT aka Spirit of Truth... By partaking in the reading, at the very least you could be heading on a path towards offending the one true God, and may likely be participating in Divination, which the Lord detests (see below). Supporting bible verses: “No one among you is to make his son or daughter pass through the fire, practice divination, tell fortunes, interpret omens, practice sorcery, cast spells, consult a medium or a familiar spirit, or inquire of the dead. Everyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and the Lord your God is driving out the nations before you because of these detestable things.” Deuteronomy 18:10-12 HCSB “Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am Yahweh your God.” Leviticus 19:31 HCSB “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 HCSB
