Humility is one of the most misunderstood aspects of human existence. It's an impossible endeavor for a human. Moses was said to be the most humble man alive. It was God who humbled him. It took 40 years of herding sheep to do it.

I'm amused every time I read a comment on this site that begins "In my humble opinion." A person who calls his opinion a humble opinion is offering a proud opinion. If it was truly humble it would have to be labeled as such by someone other than the person giving it. To call it a "humble opinion" is to try to make it more palatable, thereby causing it to be one steeped in pride.

Humility is a mighty tricky endeavor. Pride is his major opponent and has all the friends that humility needs to become popular; an outcome that I don't think will ever be accomplished until Jesus returns.

I like what Jesus said about it, "Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. If you puff yourself up, you’ll get the wind knocked out of you. But if you’re content to simply be yourself, your life will count for plenty." (Matthew 23:11-12).--The Message Bible

Guilty as charged! Too often did I start my answers with "In my humble opinion!" Pride has always been my weakness!
