The term reverend appears one time in the Bible. In the King James version psalm 111:9, "He sent redemption to his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is his name." This is a reference to God. The Hebrew word y a r e means to fear, be afraid to respect, to stand in awe of. There is only one that we should feel that way about...God! James 2:1,9 - My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. But if you respect persons, you commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressions." As God loves all, we respect Him by loving him above all and not by favoring any above any other. God is the only Reverend. The title is His alone.
