Daniel 11:41 mentions Edom escaping out of the hands of the fourth beast sometime in the future, along with Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. This may possibly be true because these people become officially aligned with the beast. Spiritually speaking, you are of Edom if you do the works of Edom (John 8:39). This doesn't mean they will actually call themselves Edom, but the name will fit, just as Jerusalem is temporarily called Sodom and Gomorrah (Rev 11:8). We know of no time in the past when the houses of Jacob and Joseph destroyed Edom like a flame, leaving no survivors. In 1 Kings 11:14-15, David and Joab slayed every male of Edom, but the Edomites somehow survived. Otherwise Herod would not have ruled over Judea. This prophecy therefore seems to pertain to the future when the times of the Gentiles has come to an end and great victories await Israel in defending itself.
