What is it speaking of in Zeph 1:8-13 about the day of the Lord's sacrifice, when 'a Cry will go up from the Fish Gate'?

Is this a prophecy of the end times, or of the fall of Jerusalem, or something else?

Zephaniah 1:10 - 11

NKJV - 10 And there shall be on that day," says the LORD, "The sound of a mournful cry from the Fish Gate, A wailing from the Second Quarter, And a loud crashing from the hills. 11 Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! For all the merchant people are cut down; All those who handle money are cut off.

In my opinion, it is a description of the end times, and of God's final judgment being visited upon the whole earth because of its sin. I think that this is made clear by verses such as Zephaniah 1:2-3 and Zephaniah 1:17-18.

The scale of the destruction described in Zephaniah 1 is so complete and so widespread that it could not apply to a localized event at an earlier time such as the captivity of Judah (even though Judah and Jerusalem are specifically mentioned in the prophecy, as well as local idols such as Ba'al and Molek), or the destruction of Jerusalem following Jesus' life on earth.
