I would say that, while it would certainly be biblical to pray to God for His protection, and, while the Bible speaks of occasions when He provided protection or help through angels or other spiritual beings (or even by a possible theophany of the pre-incarnate Christ) (as indicated by such passages as Daniel 3:25, Daniel 6:22, 2 Kings 6:16-17, and Acts 12:6-11), it would then be up to Him to decide the manner in which He would provide the protection or assistance that we are seeking.

To my thinking, the protection itself would be the main consideration. In the absence of an identifiable known threat (where we could ask God to help us by thwarting the threat itself), it would seem to me perhaps somewhat presumptuous for us to specify to God the manner in which He should do something, particularly when we are the ones who are asking Him for help. And it might also then be difficult (it again seems to me) to verify or determine that angels were subsequently involved in responding to any particular request (even if they were), unless God or the angels allowed such visibility.

In my opinion, it is enough to make our request for His protection, and then, through faith, to leave it to His omniscience and omnipotence to determine the manner in which He will respond to our prayer.

It would also be important (in my view), after we have asked God for His protection, not to then test Him in such situations by taking unnecessary or foolish risks.
