Dispensationalism is one way of understanding the Bible. I find it better than other options. An overly simplistic definition would be that the church is separate from Israel, and Israel is separate from the church. We currently live in the church age and God uses the church to administer world affairs. When the church is removed from the scene (the rapture), Israel will once again be used by God to administer world affairs. The coming 7 year tribulation period will be a time of judgement on the earth and God will use 12000 Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel to bring the single largest evangelistic campaign in world history. This will lead to the millennium where Christ will reign. The church age, Israel, and the millennium are 3 separate dispensations. This explanation is extremely simplistic, and there are volumes written by more learned people than myself. Dispensationalism makes the most sense out of understanding the Bible and the way God uses people to accomplish His will throughout the ages. Dispensationalism is the better way.
