In my opinion, Solomon in this verse is not offering an "iron-clad" guarantee of a long life to those who act with wisdom, but is instead expressing the general principle that acting with wisdom and discretion (rather than in a foolish, imprudent, or knowingly evil manner), will (in addition to being pleasing to God) tend to lengthen an individual's life by allowing him to avoid both adverse physical consequences (such as injury, death, or poverty) resulting from his actions, as well as the enmity of others whom the individual might (or likely would) offend or injure by acting unwisely.
