There is nothing wrong with a Christian having a friend who lives a gay lifestyle, just as long as the Christian doesn't sacrifice their beliefs for the relationship. God tells us to love all people, but to hate sin. We need to make sure that we separate the person from the sin. Have we all not sinned? In God's eyes, the sin of living a gay lifestyle is no worse than your sins. God has instructed all Christians to reach out to all sinners, all non-believers and introduce them to Jesus. He will do the rest.
In making your decision I suggest that you first read Romans chapter one. This will very explicitly reveal our Lord God's position on same sex relationships. In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul had just rebuked the Corinthians for allowing a man to remain in the church who was involved in an incestous relationship. In verse 13 Paul instructed them to: "........Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person." With his knowledge, now turn to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." In 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 we read: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,". As a Christain you of course should be kind and considerate of all people. However, based on Biblical teaching and principle we should be separate and distinct, not having close ties with people living immoral lifestyles. You never said what kind of friends/how close you are. In light of scripture, my question back to you is this. If you felt the same as God does about sexual immorality how, can you be comfortable in a friend relationship? As the other gentleman stated, sin is sin but consider that God didn't destoy an entire civilization such as Sodom and Gomorrah for gossiping and telling lies.
