To add to what has already been well said above, I just wanted to add what an individual could still do without all the resources and backing of a large ministry: 1. You could commit to supplying ONE needy family with groceries. You could do it through your church or even through your community. If you can't commit to doing this every month, you could look around your supermarket once in a while and see someone who may look like they need an extra blessing that day. If they thank you, just tell them, no; Thank God and if they show interest give them a flyer from your church. 2. If you find direct evangelism too intimidating, we now have the Internet and you could join chat rooms etc and spend a few minutes a day writing to people about Jesus. It may seem to others that this is not brave and pioneering and that you should be marching the streets JW style. But remember God can use any medium to reach His people. 3. You could choose to write to people in parts of the world where buying a bible is expensive. Maybe send bibles to Afghanistan/ China/ Japan/ North Korea/ Iran etc to a school you find on the internet together with a booklet on how to become a Christian and a reading guide/course to help them study. I remember my first bible was a free Gideon's when I was about age 10 because I couldn't afford a new bible. You could make it an annual parcel where you and a few friends send 10 shoeboxes each filled with a bible, notebook, pencils and pens to kids in unreached parts of the rural world. 4. I remember when I was younger my mother saw that the 5 year old child of a neighbor was malnourished and would often get home to an empty house by herself with no food. My mother offered to babysit this child every afternoon and fed her nutritious food. After a year of doing this, the parents were sorted out and back on their feet. Now this child is a top accountant and has just gotten married. Maybe you already watch your kids everyday and you know a mum in your community who could do with some help? Look around. I'm just trying to emphasize that we must not get overwhelmed with wanting to start with a huge outreach. Start with that single person in your community. Let that single talent bear fruit. Don't bury it because you believe you can't make a difference.
