When Jesus decided to go to the cross to redeem man from the curse of the law, was there any full-proof guarantee that man was going to repent and surrender to him?

God gave man the right to choose in the garden of Eden and man has always had that right. So were there any assurances that man would repent after the cross?

Matthew 27:32 - 44

AMP - 32 As they were marching forth, they came upon a man of Cyrene named Simon; this man they forced to carry the cross of Jesus. 33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha [Latin: Calvary], which means The Place of a Skull.

The first indication of Jesus' death on the cross, and His subsequent victory over Satan through His resurrection, was given immediately after humanity first fell into sin (Genesis 3:15). As noted in Hebrews 11, all the heroes of faith in the Old Testament, as well as the nation of Israel as a whole (Hebrews 11:29), lived and died in faith of the fulfillment of that promise. That alone would have served as reason enough for Jesus' sacrificial death.

But, in addition (as noted in Hebrews 11:39-40), those of the Old Testament did not see the fulfillment of the promise in their lifetimes specifically because God in His omniscience saw those who would be alive both during and after the time of Christ's sacrifice (up to the present day), who would also be saved through their faith, so that they would all be made perfect together.
