We are given the Holy Spirit when we believe the gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. That His blood sacrifice atoned for all our sins forever. When we put our trust in what He did, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of you salvation; in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Second Timothy, 2:19 Nevertheless, the foundation of God is sure, having this seal, (The Holy Spirit) the Lord knoweth them that are His. Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holly Spirit. So when we believe the gospel that Jesus blood sacrifice has paid our sin debt in full forever, we are given the free gift of the Holy Spirit who is our righteousness before God. It is the Holy Spirit that is how we are born again. Born of God. When we were born into this world it was a water birth, but when we are born again it is a spiritual birth. It is our soul/spirit that is saved, not our flesh or old nature. We still have that until we die. But our soul/spirit lives forever and will be reunited with our new sinless bodies at the resurrection. Once we have the Holy Spirit he will never leave us or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5. He is the one who keeps us saved. He is our comforter. We can grieve the Holly Spirit when we sin, but never lose the Holy Spirit who has sealed us forever in Him.

Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” John, the son of Zach-a-ri’-as, who was in the wilderness, the word of the Lord came unto him, and he then came, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.(Lk 3:2-3) Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Ju-dae’-a, and all the region round about Jordan, and were baptized of him in Jordan confessing their sins. (Mat 3:5-6) Lord Jesus, He Himself began to be about thirty years of age, and then came to be baptized, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven. “Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” (Lk 3:21-23) Today, a matured grown-up, who is to be baptized, needs to discern in the right spirit, knowing the sin nature in you, as in the beginning, who went to the river Jordan to be baptized, confessing their sins. (Mat 3:6) For this shall be therefore fruits worthy of repentance, for He, our Lord Jesus, shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. (Lk 3:8,16) The Spirit of truth, the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in His name, shall teach (guide) you, and bring all things to remembrance, that He has revealed unto you. (Joh 14:21,26) Today, one to be born again in repentance, one who is grown up and is baptized, needs to have humbleness for repentance, who then shall discern in the right spirit, the Spirit of truth will guide you in all truth. (Joh 16:13) Lord Jesus appointed unto His disciples a Passover and said unto them, “Go to the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water, and follow him. Say unto him then, 'Good man, the Master saith, "Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the Passover with My disciples,"' and he will show you the upper room.” (Mar 14:13-15) As the twelve disciples came and sat for the Passover, Lord Jesus then took the bread and said, “Eat this, it is my body," and then took the cup and said, "Drink of it, this is my blood which is shed for the remission of sins.” (Mat 26:20,26-28) The remission of sins through His Blood, we are baptized into His death, that is, through the cry of His blood. (Rom 6:3) This leads you all your life to have the humbleness knowing the sinful nature in you, and the Holy Spirit then guiding you in all truth, whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak, and he will shew you things to come. (Joh 16:13) One to receive the gift (atonement) of the Holy Ghost for the remission of sins, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned, from the time of Adam. (Rom 5:11-12/Gen 3:6) One to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the remission of sins, as we are buried with Him, by baptism into death, as Christ was raised from the dead, by the glory of the Father, we then need to walk in newness of life, humbling ourselves. (Rom 6:4) One then having the newness of life, the Chief Shepherd Lord Jesus shall appear, and you shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you, our Lord Jesus. One then needs to “be sober, be vigilant, because the adversary, the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Pet 5:4,6-8) As Judas, who then betrayed our Lord Jesus, saw that the Lord Jesus was condemned, and he repented himself, brought back the thirty pieces of silver, and gave them back to the chief priest and the elders. He then said, “I have sinned and betrayed the innocent blood, he then went out of the temple and hanged himself.” (Mat 27:3-5) Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso Confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

The baptism in the Holy Spirit refers to Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, and 1 Corinthians chapters12 and 14. The believer receives power after the Holy Spirit comes upon them to be greater witnesses, with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance. It is an awesome gift separate from salvation. (See Acts 19) The baptism in the Holy Spirit is received by the prayer of faith just like salvation and commonly given at the point of laying on of hands (although not necessary). You receive Jesus BY FAITH, you receive healing by faith, you receive deliverance by faith, you receive other answers to prayer by faith, and most assuredly you receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit by faith. Faith is the currency of heaven. Every writer of the New Testament spoke in tongues. There are 680 million people on the earth today that speak in tongues, and each one received BY FAITH. You can too! Next to salvation, it’s the greatest gift you’ll ever receive.
