I would say that this is done today by figuratively walking out of the spiritual darkness of sin or unbelief, and into the light of life, by appropriating through faith in Jesus the salvation that He made possible by His atoning death and resurrection.

The references to the fountain of life and to light are foreshadowings of Jesus' discussion with the Samaritan woman at the well in Sychar (as discussed in John 4:1-42), where He referred to the "living water" that He would give to those who asked Him; and also of the imagery in Revelation 21:22-22:5, where John said that the new Jerusalem that he saw in his vision had no need of an external light source because the glory of God was its light, and where John saw the river of the water of life flowing from the throne of God.

“For with you is the fountain of life, in your light we see light.” Water (note “fountain”) and light are here metaphors for life. Thus, the verse could be translated, "For you [God] are the one who gives and sustains life." -- bible.org

Life and light go together (Psalm 36:9; 49:19; 56:13; John 1:4; 8:12 -- "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'"), and the Lord is the source of both." --Warren Wiersbe

Ps 36:9: Light is an emblem of all blessings, given of God as a means to gain more.--JFB (Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown)

Ps 36:9: The fountain of life, a symbol of renewal and vitality, this is a common term in Proverbs (Prov 13:14; 14:27; 16:22). --Faithlife Study Bible

I am experiencing joy like a fountain today in my Christian life. I love and am full of joy, sharing Jesus, the Light of the world with others. He brought me out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now I must tell all the wonderful things He has done.
