The verse that comes most readily to my mind is 1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men -- the man Christ Jesus." All the phenomena spoken of in the question are (in my opinion) similar to the purported appearance of the spirit of Samuel to Saul in 1 Samuel 28:3-25, which commentators generally regard as having actually been an evil being, since God Himself had refused to answer Saul, and the spirit was called up by the use of a medium, which God had expressly forbidden (Leviticus 19:31; 20:6).

God requires no such "messengers" to interact or communicate with humans, or to heal diseases. In my opinion, they are, at best, illusions and, at worst, tools of Satan -- who, as indicated in 2 Corinthians 11:4, is able to disguise himself as an angel of light (in reference to any healings or other beneficial effects produced) -- in order to deceive people and draw them away from God. In fact, I would say that the saints whom those messengers are reputed to be would (if they were genuine) be the first to tell the person experiencing them to worship and pray to God alone, rather than to them, as the angel told John to do in Revelation 21:8-9.
