As recorded in the Bible, God was -- and would certainly still be (as indicated in end-times prophecies such as Luke 21:11 and Revelation 6:7-8) -- capable of sending diseases in judgment of human sin. At the same time, however, until the close of the present age, all humans also live in a world in which Satan (whom Bible passages such as John 12:31 and 2 Corinthians 4:4 refer to as the ruler (or even the "god") of this world) and his demonic agents are still very much active, and in which diseases such as coronavirus can occur just because of that world's fallen nature. I would therefore be hesitant, in the absence of totally clear and unmistakable evidence to the contrary, to conclude that coronavirus was specifically an instrument of God's judgment (even though God's permissive will -- as opposed to His decretive or directive will -- has allowed it). However, regardless of COVID-19's cause or purpose, its occurrence should serve as a reminder to all humans of the brief nature of their lives (especially in comparison to the vastness of eternity), and motivate them to seek the eternal life that is possible only through faith in Christ.
My hope is that this warning from God is heard worldwide with the result of a spiritual awakening around the world. I hope Americans are paying attention and repent, turn back to God.
