Hoses is a book in the Bible that follows the book of Daniel. He was a prophet, like other prophets whose work for God was hazardous. Hosea was the son of Beeri. He prophesied during the eighth century B.C. Uzziah/Azariah, was king of Judah, and Jeroboam II was king of Israel at the time. Hosea's prophetic career ended during Hezekiah's rule. He was alive during the last six kings reigns in Israel. The major purpose of Hosea's work was to denounce sin. He warned about judgment. He also reminded his people about God's unfailing love. God was in covenant with Israel, and wanted the people to repent and become faithful to Him alone. This book is a wonderful picture of our loving God's heart. He is jealous for our love.
