I humbly submit a few of the many for your consideration.

Isaiah 66:8; Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her children.

(Ezekiel 37) - Is often considered by devout Jews as referencing the Holocaust and how God re-established the modern nation of Israel. During the holocaust six million Jews were murdered and buried. But there were many thousands near their graves in the liberated death camps. In a metaphorical sense it's these walking dead survivors who God opened up the grave and brought back to the land of Israel.

(Ezekiel 37:5) - Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

(Ezekiel 37:6) - And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

(Ezekiel 37:10) -"So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceeding great ARMY.
Historical Note: A rag tag skinny ARMY defeated five larger and superior Arab armies during independence. And then on 26 May 1948 the IDF Israeli Defense Forces was officially formed, today it's considered one of the three greatest armies in the modern world.

(Ezekiel 37:11) - Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

(Ezekiel 37:12) - Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of ISRAEL.
Historical Note: from the fourth or fifth century this land was called PALESTINE. And prior to 1948 many deemed this either a typo or worse a cosmic error, but it came to pass on 14 May 1948 in HIS perfect time.

(Ezekiel 37:13) - And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

(Ezekiel 37:22) - And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

An old Testament prophesy brought forth with the restoration of the nation of Israel on 14 May 1948. You'll become a great nation and no longer be divided as a Northern and Southern kingdom.

It is important to remember that Old Testament prophecy can be fulfilled in multiple ways. A prophetic word predicting the return of the people of Israel to their native land can refer to their return from the 70 year exile in Babylon, and it can also refer to the people returning to the nation state of Israel in 1948 after being exiled since AD 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans.

For example, let's look closely at the passage from Amos 9 below. The first part of the passage clearly refers to the return of the people after the 70 year exile to Babylon because they will rebuild the ruined cities that were destroyed in the Babylonian invasion of Israel. This clearly cannot refer to the return to nation state in 1948 because there are no ruined cities remaining after a 2,000 year exile.

But the last part of the passage cannot refer to the return from the Babylon exile because the Lord says they will never again be uprooted from the land. After their return from Babylon Israel was conquered by Rome in AD70, Jerusalem was destroyed and the people were scattered all over the Roman empire. This prophecy must refer to the new nation state of Israel and it is these people who will never be uprooted from the land the Lord has given them.

Here are some more examples of scriptures that prophecy the return of the people to the nation state of Israel.

Amos 9:14-15
I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

Isaiah 11:12
He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Deuteronomy 30:3
Then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you, and he will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you.

Ezekiel 37:12
Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel.

Joel 3:1-2
“For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land

Zechariah 12:6
“On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 31:23
Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes: “‘The LORD bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!

Revelation 20:9-10
And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever

Zechariah 12:3
On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it

In my opinion and in my research, I do not know of any directly speaking to the current modern state. Ezekiel 37:11 speaks of an Israel in regards to a "whole house of Israel". This includes the lost tribes, not just Judah. The lost tribes are brought back by Messiah as it states in Ezekiel 37:24 "My servant David..." is the Messiah that shepherds them back from the dead and reigns over them forever.

So modern day Israel is only permitting Jews, which is a modern term (the earlier Biblical term is "Judean"), back into their country as citizens. So that makes it impossible for the government to bring back the lost tribes. That is by their own policy, and besides, only Messiah can bring back the lost tribes according to the Scripture. Again, it is the "whole house of Israel," Ez 37:11.

The lost tribes are lost because they didn't want to follow Torah, but they wanted to live like gentiles. Civil war broke out and eventually Israel, as the northern tribes were called, became lost as they assimilated with the gentiles. Their offspring then became gentiles over the 2300 + years.

You will notice that the marketed modern day "lost tribe" Jews that are migrating to Israel today are all Judean or converted at some point in their ancestry to Rabbinical Judaism. But even the Orthodox that hold Messianic beliefs will say only the Messiah can bring back the lost tribes, which is why they don't permit the use of the word "Israel" in their Yeshivas.

This is the objective reality, and I understand it doesn't fit with the popular dispensational view, which seems more political than anything else these days. So the Scripture speaks of an Israel that Messiah will bring back. I do see that in the Scripture, but not in the way that many are portraying it.

This is a similar mistake that the ancient pharisees made concerning the coming of Messiah. They preached He would be military and crush the Romans. No doubt they quoted Scripture, but they lacked understanding and so they were not able to recognize Messiah upon His visitation. He did not come in the manner they were interpreting, but He did indeed come.

There aren't any bible passages that speak of the formation of the modern state of Israel. The only way you can think there are such passages is by finding a prophecy about Israel that has already been fulfilled in the old Testament tones and then claiming the same prophecy will be fulfilled a second time later on. That is a mistaken interpretation of prophecy. And it is surprisingly common.

Once a prophecy is made and fulfilled there are no grounds for saying it's going to happen a second time or a third time or any number of times. But sometimes we so much want to find a bible passage to support our view that we will pick out prophecies that have already happened that we say they're going to happen again. But there is no evidence for that is there? Other than wanting it so. So we need to be careful not to fall into the double fulfillment trap. It doesn't work that way. Once a prophecy comes to pass, it's done.

Regards,
Phil
