In my opinion, the extreme longevity of individuals recorded in Genesis was not indicative of any "secret" to long life, but was attributable to the fact that the effects of sin had not yet fully or thoroughly permeated creation. As those effects became progressively greater, life spans grew correspondingly shorter, until the normal human life span became no greater than it is today (as indicated by Psalm 90:10).
