Which biblical passages can help to restore a believer's faith after being shattered by the exposure of trusted Christian leader as false?

I had a lot of trust in a celebrated Christian leader. He has been exposed to be a false teacher. Peter 2 talks about false teachers. Yet how can someone keep quoting biblical verses again and again, giving discourses, and be such a cheat? How can a team associated with Bible and Christian work consistently cover him up?

Where is the power of the Bible here?
