This is a prophecy. God is speaking through Isaiah. Isaiah was not naked. He laid aside his prophetic outfit. He declared that in three years Moab, Egypt, and Ethiopia would be destroyed.

No. The prophet was not walking around naked for three years.

In verse 4, the lesson of verse 2 is explained. The Egyptian warriors would be slaves. They would not even be given cloth to cover their nakedness..this would prove their total defeat and humiliate them.

Isaiah is telling Judah that no help would come from Ethiopia or Egypt. They had their own problems!

They must look to God for help.

As today, our help comes from the Lord!

This happened and is recorded in the following scripture.

Isaiah 37:36-38, " That same night the Angel of the Lord went out and struck down an hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. In the early morning when it was time to get up, there they lay, so many corpses.

Sennacherib struck camp and left; He returned home and stayed in Ninevah. One day when he was worshipping in the temple of his god Niroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword and escaped into the territory of Ararat. His son Esarhaddon succeeded him." (NJB)
