Was there another set of people created somewhere apart from Adam and Eve? (Genesis 4:17)

ESV - 17 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

The best explanation that I have heard is that Adam and Eve would have had many other children (from whom Cain's wife would have come). However, the Bible does not specifically mention their births or their names, since those other children were not central or essential to the narrative of the subjects or theological points with regard to God's dealings with humanity that He wanted to be recorded, such as the curse placed on Cain; the ancestry and history of the nation of Israel through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and the lineage that ultimately resulted in the birth of Jesus, who would be the promised "Seed of the woman" who would fatally bruise the head of the serpent (Satan), as God promised in Genesis 3:15.
