What is the uniqueness of the scriptures as compared with other writings?

I have some self-help books that I am reading by Bill & Pam Farrel and by Joyce & Clifford Penner. But how is the Bible more valuable than all other writings?

Psalms 119:1 - 176

ESV - 1 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! 2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.

The Holy Bible is the only book that is 100 percent the word of God. It is infallible. It does not contradict itself. It is the only book that has accurately foretold events that have happened. It is the only book with many authors, but really only one author. The whole book is the story of Jesus Christ. It is at the same time a guidebook for life. Truthfully it is the best love story you will ever know.

Psalm 33:4, "For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth."

If you seek the Lord, you will understand.

Psalm 34:8, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusts in Him."

I am a big book, T.V. and movie fan, and an even bigger Bible fan.

I’ve seen and read many things. My observation is that most things are based on the Bible, albeit slightly cloaked (hidden and unknown; especially for those who don't read the Bible) Therein lies its uniqueness.

There was a television series called “Men in Trees”, which is what the healed blind man saw after Jesus restored his sight. There’s “Manifest”, which is a story of a missing plane called “Flight 8:28” (think Romans). The list goes on from love stories to horror, all patterned after something in the Bible. One has but to read the Bible and come up with many different scenarios based on “good vs. Evil” - the difference is the Word of God is true! It is proven by history and deep down in one’s soul and spirit). There’s also a movie called “The Book of Eli” which has a blind man running from bad guys who want the book for their leader, which will make him seem like a divine leader amongst the people - the book in question is a Braille copy of the Bible!

Reading books like you mentioned are not inherently bad unless they twist the Words of God and the reader believes the lies. If they help people to be better, that is none for the worse. However, God’s Word promises eternal life - the others do not!

Other books, magazines, and online articles are good for me; this is a fact! I’ve experienced it. You should see my long paper list of books I have checked out from the library! But the Bible is unique for me.

•	It gives me boldness, Psalm 119:42 (confidence in answering skeptics)
•	It provides guidance, Psalm 119:105
•	The Word brings satisfaction, Psalm 119:20
