Genesis 8:22: "While earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease." Leviticus 19:9 talks about reaping the harvest of the field. Leviticus 23:10: " When you come into the land...and reap its harvest, you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest." Jesus used many ways to teach the Jews. They were an agricultural society. He was giving another sign of who He was! When Jesus sacrificed His life and went to be with God, I believe He was teaching another lesson. The illustration was a sheaf of the first fruits of the resurrection, which came after Him. 1 Corinthians 15:20: "But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep." Jesus was honoring God with an offering, the best He had, showing for approval His work. What do we glean from this? John 20:31: "These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing you may have life in His name."
